Fruits and Vegetables Shown to Help You Live Longer

With a society that’s increasingly dependent on prescription medications, it’s important to look at alternate ways to prevent diseases from the inside out. And of course, one of the biggest ways is to eat fresh produce. In fact, one study found that those who ate five to seven servings of fruits and vegetables a day cut their risk of dying by 36 percent!

One cool program that we can all learn from is called The Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program where families were given a “prescription” for fresh fruits and vegetables that they could redeem at their local farmer’s market.

Nearly one quarter of Americans barely eat any fruits and vegetables at all which is astounding considering the nutrients they provide to bodies that desperately need them. Fresh produce can be delicious and inexpensive, and they’re a a lot easier to swallow than a bunch of pills.  So let’s all give ourselves prescriptions for healthy food so we won’t need them for medicine.
